Suspects Sought In Fatal Troy Hill Shooting

TROY HILL (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a teenager was shot and killed in Troy Hill Monday night.

According to police, the shooting happened on Goettman Street around 9:30 p.m.

Rasheed Strader, 18, came out of his home and was shot twice in the head and neck.

"Unfortunately, he died there at the scene despite efforts to resuscitate him," Sonya Toler with Pittsburgh Public Safety said.

Neighbor Darwin Jones said the young man's mother must have heard the multiple gunshots and came out not knowing initially it was her son who had been shot.

"She didn't even know who it was [either]. She just said she was [going to] save someone's son that was laying there. And when she flipped him over, she just freaked. She said, 'Oh my God.' It's her son," Jones said.

Before police got to the scene within minutes of the shooting, Jones said he asked Strader one question.

"I said, 'Who shot you?' And he looked up at me and laid back down and never said a word," Jones said.

Rasheed was a junior at Pittsburgh's Student Achievement Center and was previously a student at Perry High School.

Now, police are looking for two suspects possibly involved in his murder.

"Police say there were two actors who were heard arguing with him and fled the scene. We're very hopeful that the community will help in identifying these two individuals so they can be brought in for questioning," Toler said.
