Make-A-Wish Foundation Asking For Unused Frequent Flyer Miles

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - The Make-A-Wish Foundation makes dreams come true every day for kids across the country, including the Pittsburgh area.

And you can help too, if you have extra frequent flyer miles.

President and CEO of the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation Judy Stone joined the KDKA Morning News with Larry Richert and John Shumway to explain how you can help with the month-long "Wishes in Flight" campaign.

You don't even have to give them all of your miles.

"Give us some of the miles," Stone said. "We'll take anything over 1,000 [miles]. They add up. Last year they added up to 3 million miles."

Stone adds, "We can actually use in a year 124 million miles if used only for all the kids' trips."

The Make-A-Wish Foundation says an estimated 16 trillion frequent flyer miles go unused.

Stone says 75 percent of the wishes they grant require travel. If you have unused miles from Delta, US Airways or United, you can donate by calling 1-800-676-9474 or go to their website greaterpawv.wish.org.
