Bishops Deliver City's Easter Blessing

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Several bishops held a prayer service in Mt. Washington Saturday morning, delivering an Easter blessing for the City of Pittsburgh.

Bishops David Zubik and Dorsey McConnell participated, along with several other church leaders.

It was held on the Grandview Avenue overlook platform above McArdle Roadway, near St. Mary of the Mount Parish.

"This is the good news, that we're never alone, God loves us and my hope is for that peace in everybody's hearts and souls that the world can't take away and that only God can give," said Bishop David Zubik.

The Easter blessing over Pittsburgh started during Lent back in 1991.

Pope Francis also baptized 10 people during an Easter vigil at St. Peter's Basilica today.

The vigil is among the most solemn and dramatic on the church calendar.

The Pope will deliver Easter Sunday mass in St. Peter's Square Sunday.

Friday night, he observed Good Friday at the "Way of the Cross" procession ceremony at the Coliseum in Rome.
