PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Isabella family living on Maytide Street in Overbrook got a wake-up call from the FBI early Friday morning. The agents had a search and seizure warrant.

For nearly a year, federal agents and the U.S. Attorney have been investigating the Isabella brothers – 29-year-old Daniel, Jr. and 22-year-old David.

In February and March, the brothers pleaded guilty to allegedly using Craigslist as a way to scam hundreds of would-be buyers nationwide out of thousands of dollars.

“My kids, I admit… My kids, they took advantage of stupid people, is what they did,” said Daniel Isabella, Sr., the suspects’ father.

Authorities say Daniel, Jr. and David admitted to advertising non-existent tickets to concerts and sporting events on the popular website.

Their father makes no excuses for his sons’ behavior.

“My kids made a mistake, okay. One of them still has a problem; the other one is doing what he’s doing to meet his restitution,” said Daniel Sr.

He adds that while his son Daniel was jailed recently related to the scam, an acquaintance stole his identification card and began defrauding people on Craigslist again.

Daniel Sr. says he believes that’s why the FBI was at his door earlier.

“When they came here, they didn’t even realize that he was in jail,” he said.

Daniel Sr. also says he works hard for his money and can’t understand how the public can be so gullible.

“You’re buying tickets to these concerts and some of these tickets are $2,000, and you’re going to pay $300 bucks for it? You don’t think that’s a little…” he added. “If it looks too good to be true, it usually is.”
