Pens Fans Excited For 2nd Round Of Playoffs

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Fans were forced to bite their nails Monday night as the Pittsburgh Penguins held on for a 4-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets to win the series 4-2.

The Penguins led 4-0 after two periods of play, but the Blue Jackets ripped off three goals in a span of 4:52 in the third period to get back into the game.

However, the Penguins were able to hold off Columbus' late surge and will now await the winner of the New York Rangers/Philadelphia Flyers series.

New York leads the series 3-2 and Game 6 will be played tonight in Philadelphia.

"Got a little worried there in the third period, but everything fell out. Glad we won the series. Can't wait for New York or Philadelphia," Kenny Kissel said.

While rain moved through our area during the game, it didn't keep people away from the big screen at CONSOL Energy Center.

"It was awesome. I loved it. It was nerve-wracking, but at the same time, it was awesome. I am so happy they finally get the series tonight. I am so excited," Joanne Savinda said.

Now that the series is over, which opponent do Pens fans want to see in the next round?

"Gotta go probably for the Rangers, but if it's the Flyers, we'll deal with it," Kissel said.

"Not Philly. Bring on New York, we'll take them," one man said.

Tickets for the first two games of the second round will go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m., but the schedule has not been determined.

However, the first two games will be played at CONSOL Energy Center.
