Woman Stabbed While Waiting For Bus In Butler Co.

BUTLER (KDKA) – A woman was hospitalized after she was attacked at a Butler County bus stop.

It happened around noon Sunday in downtown Butler, at the Butler Transit Authority Terminal.

Carolyn Pessalano was stabbed in the arm and had to get about 12 stitches.

She says she was sitting on a bench when 45-year-old Weston Atwell sat next to her, pulled out a knife and started stabbing her in the arm.

"And he comes walking over and sitting down beside me, OK," Pessalano said. "Then I saw him somehow reaching over toward my arm and I looked up and here was a knife and I said 'What are you doing?' and I saw blood coming out of my arm and he start running real fast."

Police say Atwell ran away, but was caught a couple blocks away.

Pessalano says she's seen Atwell before, but doesn't know him or why he stabbed her.

Atwell is now locked up in the Butler County Jail, charged with felony aggravated assault on a $25,000 bond.
