Police Search For Suspect In Fatal McKeesport Shooting

McKEESPORT (KDKA) – Police are looking for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man from McKeesport.

Allegheny County homicide detectives say the victim, Tezjuan Taylor, of McKeesport, was hit with a shotgun blast near Ray's Double Barrel Bar around 1:30 a.m.

"There was a shooting in the 500-block of 5th Avenue in McKeesport. The victim ran to a neighboring gas station where he collapsed and ultimately succumbed to his wounds," said Lt. Andrew Schurman, of Allegheny County Police.

Police say Taylor got into an argument with someone inside the bar before he was shot. More than a handful of residents told KDKA's Bob Allen that the bar is a known trouble spot in McKeesport.

Later, during the day Saturday, police were called to an apartment in Crawford Village, where someone shot out the glass storm door of an apartment in a suspected retaliation shooting.

"Loud and clear; I thought it was my door at first, that's how close," said D. Willis, a neighbor. "Gunshots, there was about, I think, it's crazy, four to six shots."

It's believed the gunshots may have been in retaliation for the fatal shooting this morning, but a neighbor told me off camera the gunman shot at the wrong door.

Police tracked a suspect to the Highview Apartments. Armed officers went to an apartment, but he got away.

No motive was given in the homicide, but it appears police know who they are looking for.

There was also a second shooting in McKeesport overnight that took place in the 300-block of Whigham Street.

One person was taken to the hospital.
