OCA's Associate Director On Rising Awareness Of GMOs In Food

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - Chris Moore spoke with the associate director of The Organic Consumers Association, Katherine Paul on Sunday.

They talked about the Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) that are in the food that most Americans eat every day. Paul, along with the OCA, has worked closely over the years on the effort to have these GMOs in our food labeled in packaging.

"Our food supply has become so corrupted," Paul explained. "There's so many different types of ingredients that are going into packaged foods. So, consumers are waking up to that. They are getting more educated."

The OCA had a recent victory as Vermont became the first state to require GMO labeling on foods. The law was passed last week and is scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2016.
