Man Arrested In Stabbing Death Of His Mother

DUQUESNE (KDKA) – Police have arrested a man and charged him with fatally stabbing his 79-year-old mother in Duquesne.

According to police, Marguerite Davis was found stabbed at her home in the 300-block of South Second Street around 3:20 p.m. on Monday.

She later died from her injuries.

Davis lived in the house with her two adult sons.

One of those sons, 56-year-old Rodney Davis, was arrested and charged with criminal homicide.

Police arrested him at his girlfriend's house hours after the attack. He was arraigned overnight and is being held without bond at the Allegheny County Jail.

According to the criminal complaint, Davis got into an argument with his mother Monday afternoon.

Davis told police that his mother hit him in the hand during the argument, he then hit her in the head with a bottle of vodka.

Davis went on to tell police that he went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife to stab his mom. He returned to the kitchen two more times, each time grabbing another knife.

When the victim's other son arrived at the house, he found his mother on the kitchen floor with two knives in her chest.

Her granddaughters were there at the scene of the crime Monday evening.

"She's very loved," said Davis' granddaughter Sara Tate, "It's an unfortunate situation and we're dealing with it and you know she'll be missed. She was a great woman."

Others in the community remember a kind, soft-spoken woman.

"She was so kind, a sweet smile and so soft spoken. I worked with her at a hospital for years, she was one of those people that would see you and just smile, she didn't come out of the house and bother anybody," said longtime neighbor Elaine Washington.
