Flash Flood Watch In Effect With More Rain, Storms Expected

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A powerful line of storms moved through the area Wednesday evening, but more storms could be on the way today.

According to KDKA-TV's Jon Burnett, Thursday morning showers will dissipate, but the atmosphere will heat up and refuel this afternoon.

Some storms could be heavy, but Burnett does not expect them to reach yesterday's level of intensity.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for much of the viewing area until 11 p.m.

Those storms left widespread damage around the area and even prompted a tornado warning at one point in Butler County.

As of 8 a.m., Duquesne Light still had about 2,700 customers without power. They have crews working around the clock to restore service.

After the sun sets this evening, Burnett expects the weather to calm down a bit. Some showers will linger for the first part of Friday. A cold front will move out of the area by Friday afternoon, which will set the stage for a sunny weekend.
