Woman Dead After Shooting Estranged Boyfriend, Then Self

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police say a man was shot multiple times by his estranged girlfriend Friday morning, before she took her own life.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. in the 600-block of Louann Street, off of Mt. Royal Boulevard.

KDKA's Christine D'Antonio Reports:

Officials say the man was leaving his home to head to work, when he found his estranged girlfriend, now identified as 43-year-old Sharon Demore, on the porch. After that, police say Demore shot the man twice, once in the shoulder and another shot to the back, and then shot herself in the head.

Demore died, and the man is in critical condition.

Neighbors in the typically quiet neighborhood say they woke up to the sounds of gunshots.

KDKA's Christine D'Antonio Reports:

"I was in the powder room," said Shirley Morece. "My grandson was in his room. I heard shots, one, two, three and like 30 seconds after that, another shot ... we heard somebody hollerin' 'help me, help me, help me!'"

Both are in their 40s and were known to have a rocky relationship.

KDKA's Sarah Arbogast Reports:

Demore had four children, and her estranged boyfriend has three -- they have no children together.

It's unclear what initially prompted the shooting.
