Jamie Dixon Finds Replacement After Barry Rohrssen Departure

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - After a long search to replace Assistant Coach Barry Rohrssen who left the Pitt program to join John Calipari at Kentucky, Jamie Dixon has announced the hiring of Assistant Coach Matt Williamson, formerly of the University of Massachusetts.

Williamson spent the last two season at UMASS as an Assistant Coach under Derek Kellogg. During his time there, UMASS went 45-21 and recorded back-to-back postseason appearances with the NIT in 2013 and the NCAA Tournament in 2014.

Part of the appeal of Williamson to Dixon's staff is his ties to AAU basketball.

Prior to coaching at UMASS, Williamson spent nine years working with The Family, an AAU program in Detroit Michigan.

Williamson has ties to the Pittsburgh region as his father was a Pittsburgh native who attended Peabody High School.
