World Cup Experience

American player DaMarcus Beasley has plenty of experience in the World Cup. He has been with the USMNT for the 2002, 2006 and 2010 World Cups. However, in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Beasley hardly saw any playing time.

Beasley has always played at midfield for the US squad. He was always on the attack team, but recently, especially with Jurgen Klinsmann as coach, Beasley has been playing at left back. This World Cup in Brazil will be the first cup for Beasley in which he will play as a defender.

History with Clubs

DaMarcus Beasley has been with many clubs around the world. He was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Galaxy in 1999, but was quickly traded to the Chicago Fire. In Chicago, Beasley excelled, which eventually caught the eye of Dutch team PSV.

In July of 2004, PSV Eindhoven agreed with the MLS for a transfer fee for Beasley of $2.5 million. Beasley ended up signing a four-year contract with Dutch team PSV. It was with PSV that Beasley reached the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League in 2005. That made Beasley the first American to reach that far into the Champions League with any team.

After helping PSV win the domestic title in Holland in 2006, Beasley joined English team Manchester City on a loan for just one season. He did not get much playing time due to injury and returned to PSV after the loan was over.

In June of 2007, Beasley went on to play with Scottish team the Rangers. Beasley fought hard in Scotland as he was taunted by racist chants from opposing fanatics. He played for the Rangers for three seasons.

DaMarcus Beasley moved to the German league, playing for Hannover, in August of 2010. He signed a two-year contract with the German team and had a decent time in the Bundesliga.

Currently, he is playing in Mexico with club team Puebla. He joined the Mexican team on June 2, 2011. He scored his first goal for Puebla against rivals Monterrey in the Copa Tijuana.
