Body Found At Mercer Co. Landfill IDed As Missing Ohio Teenager

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Authorities have identified the young woman's body found Wednesday at a Mercer County waste disposal site in Mercer County.

Gina Burger, who turned 16 earlier this month, was reported missing Monday night by her mother in Austintown, Ohio, about 45 miles from where the teen's body was found.

Workers at the Tri-County Industries, Inc. site discovered Burger's body on Wednesday afternoon. She had no identification with her.

The Mercer County Coroner's Office reports Burger sustained a fatal stab wound to the chest.

The girl's mother, Jacqueline Bacher, told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti that "someone took her, for whatever reason; I don't know."

"She wasn't just a piece of trash to be disregarded," Bacher said. "Then, to find her in a landfill; I mean, that's someone who has no regard for life."

Bacher said her daughter left her Austintown apartment Monday evening to borrow tea bags from a neighbor. She said that was the last time she saw her daughter.

Bacher said her daughter would never just run away.

Police have not yet determined where the teen was actually killed.

Pennsylvania State Police released a description of Burger and her clothing earlier this week, hoping the public could help in identifying her.

Investigators said the transfer site takes in trucks from a wide area, from Clarion County to Erie to parts of Ohio.

An autopsy on Burger's body was completed on Thursday.
