Larry Foote: Steelers On The Up-&-Up

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Former Steelers linebacker Larry Foote was a guest co-host on "The Fan Morning Show" Wednesday.

Foote said that he was a little surprised that the Steelers released him in the offseason.

"My agent met with (the Steelers) down at the Combine in Indianapolis. The talk was that we couldn't get lined up, we lost a few games early on because we couldn't even get lined up," Foote said. "My agent shared that with me, so I just assumed I was coming back. So, I was a little caught off guard when (my agent) called me and told me they were going to release me."

Foote said that he understands from the Steelers' perspective since he was injured last year in Week 1, and the transition had already started.

Foote added that he expects big things from the Steelers this year.

"I was a little disappointed because I see the Steelers, they finished on the up-and-up," he said.

Foote said that he had no ill-will towards the Steelers either.

"These guys drafted me in the fourth round, when a lot of people didn't believe in me. I made a lot of money, we won two Super Bowls. The Steelers have been great to me," Foote said.

Howeverm he added that he is motivated to put up big numbers to prove people wrong. Foote signed with the Arizona Cardinals after he was released, and he likes the situation there.

"They finished 10-6, we've got a great defense coming back, and I want to perform on a high level," Foote said.

They also discussed Cleveland wide receiver Josh Gordon, who faces a possible suspension for testing positive for marijuana. Foote said that it's costing Gordon money and his reputation.

"He has a problem, and they need to suspend him for a year, get him some help, and hopefully it can save his life," Foote said.
