The vehicle slid about 600 feet, struck a tree and then the part of the house where a 9-year-old girl was sleeping.

“If that tree wouldn’t have been there, that pickup truck probably would have gone through the house,” Morris Township Fire Chief Dave Dietrich said. “It’s a good thing that tree was there.”

The driver, Forest Wood, 19, of Holbrook, was flown to a local hospital with possible head injuries.

It took emergency crews about 20 minutes to extricate Wood from the vehicle.

No one inside the home was injured.
