1 Shot, 1 In Custody In Washington County

ROSCOE (KDKA)- State police are investigating a shooting early Friday morning at a home in Roscoe, Washington County.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. at a home on Route 88, also known as Chester Avenue.

Police say 40-year-old Shawn Kuch was shot. He was flown to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment.

A 67-year-old man was taken to the State Police barracks in Belle Vernon. It's unclear if he was arrested or just taken in for questioning.

Police aren't releasing his name since he has not actually been charged with anything.

It appears the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute.

"They got into a verbal argument that turned physical," said State Police Tpr. Stephanie Plume. "During the argument, the older male who owned the residence was able to retrieve a revolver from the residence and shot the younger male in the chest area."

Police say Kuch lived in the house owned by the 67-year-old.

He is said to be in serious, but stable condition.

State police from the Belle Vernon barracks are investigating the shooting. They're trying to determine if the shooting was in self defense.

"It appears more or less that it was a self-defense type of incident involving the older male, who was the shooter in this case, basically protecting himself during the altercation," Plume said.

Roscoe has a population of about 800 people.
