Firefighters Save 3 Dogs From House Fire In Elizabeth Twp.

ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Elizabeth Township firefighters saved three dogs from a house fire Friday afternoon.

Police confirmed there was smoke visible from a one-story home in the 100-block of Cascade Drive when crews arrived on the scene. A fire had broken out in the bedroom.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but the crews did rescue three dogs from the house.

According to Elizabeth Township Fire Chief Bob Greenawald, the fire was knocked down and under control within four to five minutes after arrival on the scene.

"Crews went above and beyond today," Greenawald said. "They took a beating, the initial crew, on the attack line ... they saved the homeowner a lot of money."

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The Allegheny Fire Marshal was also called to the scene.
