Owner Explains Story Behind Dog's Adorable Viral Video

MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) -- You've probably heard by now of the Murrysville dog who was so excited about reuniting with her master, that she fainted.

That video now has more than 24 million views on YouTube.

Rebecca Svetina's husband, Mahi, shot the video that has gone viral, and then some. She was teaching in Slovenia, when she met her future husband. Rebecca and Mahi were married in a picturesque community in the northwest corner of his homeland. It had been two years since her dog Casey had seen her.

"She always squeals and such, but we didn't expect her to pass out this time, which was convenient since my husband was recording," Rebecca recalls.

The reason they shot the video in the first place was simply to send it to Miha's parents in Slovenia.

So they uploaded it to YouTube, and then, "A few hours later it got 300 clicks, we thought, ooh, wow, that's a lot," Mahi says. "So just before we went to bed, we checked again it was six thousand. Wow, it went through the roof."

The next morning, they woke up to find the views had reached past the 1,000,000 mark.

"It exploded," Rebecca says. "Which was really inconvenient, because we were planning a wedding picnic at my parents' house. And we were trying to decorate and clean. And we were getting media calls from everywhere."

"We just wanted to spend a few quiet days with family, have some fun, and we put that video on and the whole plan changed," her husband says.

A friend in Copenhagen told them the story made the Danish newspapers.

"It's also gone to Mexico," Rebecca adds. "We got a friend yesterday from a friend in Argentina, saying it's made it to the end of the world."

She was also interviewed in a satellite feed to Australia.

Little Casey's fame has spread the Land Down Under.

But her owner admits, "I don't think he likes the spotlight so much."
