Man Killed In Northview Heights Shooting

NORTHVIEW HEIGHTS (KDKA)- Pittsburgh Police homicide detectives are looking into a shooting in the Northview Heights neighborhood.

It happened around 1 a.m. Friday along Hazlett Street.

A man was shot in the chest and rushed to the hospital. He later died from his injuries.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Maurice Freeman of Northview Heights. According to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office, he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Denise Jones who lives near the scene said, "I slept on the couch with a cover on my back for some odd reason and here I go, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. I didn't know whether to jump on the ground."

Others are fed up with the violence.

Valerie Lauw said, "To look at all these homicides, it's as if we are filled with nothing but killers."

So far, there have been no arrests in the case.

Police say there are no suspects.
