Lightning Damages Church Organ, Knocks Down Trees

MT. LEBANON (KDKA) – Lightning interrupted mass Sunday morning at St. Bernard's Church in Mt. Lebanon.

A priest says the church organ stopped working and the microphone shut off when lightning struck during the 9 a.m. mass.

They used a piano for the 11 a.m. mass.

Lightning is also suspected of knocking down a tree in Beechview.

The tree came crashing down into a man's yard on Dagmar Street around 10 a.m.

"I heard a huge loud noise and when I asked the wife did she make that noise, she said no, she come out to look out the door and she started screaming and crying because the entire tree was laying in my property," said John Demeo, whose yard the tree landed in.

The tree damaged a fence, but no one was hurt.
