Pirates Recall Jose Tabata, Activate Clint Barmes Off DL

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - After making the announcement that they have sent outfielder Gregory Polanco back to Triple-A Indianapolis, the Pittsburgh Pirates have announced their corresponding move.

Jose Tabata will return to the Pirates Monday night after beginning the season with the team and being sent down when Polanco got his call-up.

In 39 games at Triple-A, Tabata hit .281 with 12 RBI. He has hit safely in seven of his last eight games.

In another move, the Pirates have activated shortstop Clint Barmes off the 15-day DL. Barmes has been on the DL since July 6, after suffering a left groin strain.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Tabata and room on the 25-man roster for Barmes, the Pirates have designated infielder Jayson Nix for assignment.
