Sources: Man Stabbed Repeatedly, Including With Sword In Blairsville

BLAIRSVILLE (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a man was stabbed to death in Indiana County.

According to police, the incident happened at a home on South Stewart Street in Blairsville overnight Monday into Tuesday.

Sources close to the investigation say the 37-year-old victim had been repeatedly stabbed, the suspect allegedly using a sword at one point.

"We believe this person was specifically targeted and killed," said Trooper Steve Limani, of Pennsylvania State Police. "There's things that would have led to drug activity."

As the day wore on, investigators removed potential evidence.

Drug paraphernalia was also found inside the home.

The brutality of the killing stunned neighbors.

"Two doors down, absolutely. What can you do though?" said one neighbor.

Investigators say "associates" of the victim were the ones who asked police to check in on the man, who is believed to be an Altoona native.

As horrific as the slaying is, law enforcement officials say there's no need to become too worried.

"From the evidence we've gathered, we don't believe this is some person who's running randomly around Blairsville committing acts of violence," said Trooper Limani.

No arrests have been made and the victim's name has not been released at this time.
