3 Buildings Damaged In Mt. Washington Fire

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Firefighters were called to a three-alarm fire in Mt. Washington Sunday afternoon.

According to officials, the fire started around 1 p.m.  on East Sycamore Street, near McArdle Roadway.

The fire was first reported in a two-story building, but it spread to two neighboring buildings as well. One of those was a seven-unit apartment building.

It took firefighters about an hour to get the flames under control.

"Our firefighters did an awesome job containing this fire, that spread very quickly to the three structures," said Pittsburgh Police Spokeswoman Sonya Toler.

The Red Cross is assisting the seven people displaced by the fire. There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
