Local Students Test Best Holiday Toys

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Local kids are helping test which toys should be on the shelves this holiday season.

Four-and five-year-olds from Goddard School in Murrysville are testing about 20 different toys.

The toys range from multi-colored caterpillars made of plastic segments, to good old Lincoln Logs.

The pre-school is among 50 Goddard schools nationwide judging educational toys, produced by a number of different companies.

"What letter did you make?" asks education director Kelly Bertran, who manages to sneak a little learning in with the fun.

T. J. Kravits is the owner of the private pre-school, which opened in Murrysville less than a year ago.

He says the students will test about twenty toys from now till October tenth.

"Then we submit all information from observations and what the children have in terms of feedback," he adds. "And we narrow that number down to the top ten toys. And during the course of November, we'll post on their Facebook page the opportunity to vote for the ultimate toy of the year, if you will."

Just in time for Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year.
