Ramon Foster: Every Coach Is A Players' Coach, But Mike Tomlin Isn't Soft
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Steelers guard Ramon Foster joined "The Fan Morning Show" Tuesday with the team set to face the Browns in Cleveland on Sunday.
During the interview, Foster discussed the label of "players' coach" and how it applies to Mike Tomlin.
Foster said a "players' coach" is part of the job when you're coaching in the pros.
"I think every NFL coach is a players' coach," Foster said. "Because you can't have all these grown adults playing a sport and you be a total bad guy to them. That just doesn't happen. I think the perception is taken the wrong way due to the fact that if you have a bad game, or something like that, where the people want to see you just dog a player out- that's not the case in this league."
Foster also explained that Tomlin is not afraid to be hard on his players.
"Guys get called out weekly," Foster said. "He does the film review on Monday with us, and if you've made a mistake or made a silly penalty, he's putting it up on the big board for everybody to see, from Troy [Polamalu] all the way down to the undrafted guys, there's a lot of stuff that the masses don't know about."
