Police Search For Westmoreland Co. Store Flasher

GREENSBURG (KDKA) – Police are looking for a man who exposed himself to a woman shopping in a Hempfield Township store.

Police say the victim was just trying to do some shopping when it happened – and investigators say it's not first time a crime like that has happened in that store.

"Why someone would do that, I have no idea, but it's a crime," said State Police Tpr. Steve Limani.

And a serious crime at that – a female victim was shopping at the Gabriel Brothers store in Hempfield Township when police say she was approached by a flasher.

"You can see him clearly in the video walking around the store, walks up to a 67-year-old female and exposed himself to her," said Limani.

Video from inside the store shows the suspect walking around. Police think he chose his victim at random.

"It seems like he, in his mind, had the opportunity to expose himself to this female," said Limani.

Troopers say the images are clear enough that identifying the alleged offender should be easy. He's a bald white man, about 6 feet tall.

Investigators say this is not new to this store.

"We've had a multitude of incidents at this store," Limani said. "I don't know why at this store, but we've made arrests in the past."

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to contact State Police.

What seems like a juvenile crime can often become something much worse.

"Whether it be looking at videos they shouldn't be looking at, they may be exposing themselves – or it may be turned up to the point that they're sexually assaulting someone," Limani said.
