Police Looking For Man Wanted In Connection With 2 Armed Robberies

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A suspect is on the loose after police say two armed robberies took place at Kentucky Fried Chicken on Sunday.

The KFC in Monroeville on Route 22 is where the first robbery happened around 8 p.m. Sunday. Our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report that the robber entered the restaurant with a shirt pulled over his face and demanded to talk to a manager.

Police say the man did not show a weapon or make any physical threats before fleeing.

A short time later around 8:20 p.m., police say that same man robbed the KFC on Rodi Road in Penn Hills.

"Upon entering the office of the manager, he demanded money and fired a shot into the floor into the office," Penn Hills Police Chief Howard Burton said.

Police say no one was hit by the round.

"He wasn't facing any resistance. No one was arguing with him. They were very compliant, but he did fire the weapon," Burton said.

Police say he took off down Rodi Road toward the Parkway after taking some money from the manager.

"Wilkinsburg Police saw the vehicle, engaged in a pursuit into the city. At which point, the vehicle was lost during the pursuit," Burton said.

Police are asking for the public's help to locate the suspect.

He is an African-American male standing about 6-feet-2-inches tall and weighs between 250-300 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a black ball cap, white handkerchief over his face and a football type jacket. He was also carrying a .380 revolver.

He took off in a gray 2001 Crown Victoria with a large Ford decal across the back window of his car.

His Pennsylvania license plate number is JCG-4641.

Police have a person of interest in this case.

If you have any information, saw that suspect or that car, you're being asked to call either Penn Hills or Monroeville Police.
