Baby Pens Honor State Police & Fallen Trooper

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Minor league sports sometimes get a bad rap for goofy promotions designed to get fans in the stands.

However, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins showed the world how much they care about the Pennsylvania State Police and their families Tuesday night.

Hundreds of troopers are still scouring the woods of Pennsylvania looking for Eric Frein.

"This isn't a search like you are doing for when you have somebody that is missing in the woods, somebody that may be a young child or someone that is lost, where you can put people shoulder to shoulder. This is a very dangerous individual that we know has been planning this for years," Frank Noonan, of the Pennsylvania State Police, said.

The Baby Pens wanted the family of Trooper Bryan Dickson to know they think about them every day.

Troopers' wives sold PSP Strong T-shirts outside the arena Tuesday night.

At $15 each, they've already sold more than 20,000 in a month.

All the money goes to support Dickson's widow, their young boys and injured Trooper Alex Douglass.

"That's cheap when you think about what they do for us and what their families give to us," one woman said.

Troopers presented the colors and the Baby Pens wore PSP Strong jerseys for warmups that were auctioned off to raise more money.

"It's amazing. It's just overwhelming how much everybody loves and supports Pennsylvania State Police," one woman said.

The most touching moment came when the Dicksons dropped the puck before the game between the Baby Pens and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Every player from both teams stopped to speak to the family.
