Car, Tow Truck Collide After Driver Heads Wrong Way On I-79

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Two men were injured after police say a driver hit another vehicle while driving down the wrong side of the road.

It happened on Interstate 79 in Robinson Township, near the Parkway West.

Police say Benjamin Sieminski was headed south on the northbound side of I-79. While driving in the wrong direction, Sieminski then collided with tow truck driver George Dowdy.

Dowdy said he tried to avoid hitting the Honda Sieminski was driving, but wasn't able to get out the way fast enough. The two vehicles then hit each other on the left front sides.

It's unclear why Sieminski was driving on the wrong side of the interstate.

Both men were taken to Allegheny General Hospital with head and neck injuries.

No word on any charges.
