Steeler Great Andy Russell Needs Your Help To 'Kick Hunger'

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - Steelers fans always expect their team to win. Winning is something they're used to. Fans of the black and gold are also known for their generosity.

Now, Steeler fans have an opportunity to win and fight hunger at the same time

Former Steelers linebacker, Andy Russell, joined the "KDKA Morning News" with Larry Richert and John Shumway to talk about the Kick Hunger Challenge, an annual fundraiser online that raises money for those in need.

People make donations through their favorite NFL team for bragging rights. All proceeds of the money raised by Steeler fans will go to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

"[Just] $5 will contribute 25 meals for kids," Russell said. He added that a donation as little as $5 is "significant."

As of Oct. 27, the Steelers are in eighth place with a little over $350.

In comparison, the Seattle Seahawks fans have donated over $11,000.
