Report: Cubs To Target Russell Martin In Free Agency

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pirates offered catcher Russell Martin a $15.3 million qualifying offer on Monday, and today he is in high demand.

CBS Sports Jon Heyman reports the Cubs are targeting Martin, with the Dodgers, Blue Jays and Red Sox also having interest.

"I think we've all talked to him at some point," said Pirates starter Vance Worley. "I've definitely talked to him a few times about how important he is to the team and to myself."

Worley joked that Martin made him good, he's just the dummy throwing the pitches.

Heyman is also reporting that Martin is seeking a 5-year deal.

Martin has until a week to decide if he will accept or reject the Bucs offer, no player who has been presented a qualifying offer has accepted.
