Ray Fittipaldo: Barring Injury, Allen Likely Won't Get Back in Lineup in '14

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The Steelers will try to win their fourth-straight game Sunday when they visit the New York Jets. Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette joined Tab Douglas and Joe Rhoades Saturday, and discussed the struggles of cornerback Cortez Allen.

"It makes me wonder how much of this is technique and how much of this is in Cortez's head and he just can't get over that mental hurdle now," Fittipaldo said. "Unless there's an injury, no, I don't see any way Cortez gets back in there this season. But the way his contract is and the way there's age throughout the secondary with Ike (Taylor) being as old as he is, they're going to have to count on him at some point."

Rhoades asked if the Steelers recent surge is legitimate, or if it's smoke and mirrors.

"If they beat the two teams in front of them that they should beat, that they're supposed to beat, and they get to 8-3, I'll say they're for real. I don't want to sound too much like a skeptic, but I've just seen them far too many times lose to the Tampa Bays of the world," Fittipaldo said.
