Teen Saves 5 Dogs From Burning Home

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A teenager and his five dogs are safe after the boy rescued his pet dachshunds from his burning home.

According to officials,  the fire happened in Forward Township, Butler County around 2 p.m.

Neighbors on Leisie Road said the 14-year-old carried the dogs out in a crate.

Evans City Assistant Fire Chief Steve Bicehouse said when they got to the fire, they found the teen, with the help of a passerby, using a garden hose to put out the fire.

Officials said the boy saved the home from suffering more damage.

The exterior ground level was burned pretty badly. However, the inside of the home wasn't touched and the family is able to stay at the home.

The boy's mother was reportedly at work when the blaze broke out.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
