Body Found In Bethel Park Creek

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a body was found in a Bethel Park creek Friday morning.

Investigators believe they know the man's name. His driver's license shows he was 34-years-old and from the Pittsburgh area.

His body was found face down, lying near a culvert in Peters Creek. It was discovered by someone out walking Friday morning on Delaware Avenue near Logan Road.

So far, officials have not said how he died.

He was wearing slacks, a tee-shirt, sweater, jacket and white socks but no shoes. Wet marks on his clothes indicated that the water had been higher.

"There's not a lot of water in there, so it couldn't have gotten washed down from someplace else," said Gerry Komis, a neighbor.

Firefighters were called in to help recover the body, after Bethel Park and Allegheny County Police finished surveying the scene.

There were no signs of foul play, and it is likely a drug-related death.

Komis came home from breakfast to find the investigation underway. The creek runs right behind his backyard.

"We came back, we saw all the cop cars and the helicopter," he said. "It seems very, very weird. Like I said, it's usually very quiet around here."
