Police: Argument Leads To Stabbing In Westmoreland County

WESTMORELAND COUNTY (KDKA) – A Westmoreland County teenager is facing attempted homicide and related charges after State Police say he stabbed a man who was fighting the teen's father outside their home.

The suspect is the great grandson of a late common pleas court judge.

State Police say the stabbing victim is 34-year-old Justin Kalish of Youngwood.

Kalish is hospitalized in critical condition.

The stabbing took place in the driveway of the home of Earl Keim IV on South Eighth Avenue in Youngwood.

Court documents say that Kalich showed up at the door of the Keim home just before 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, allegedly wanting to see a person who was there.

Mr. Keim told police when he asked Kalich to leave, he refused, and the two got into a heated argument in the driveway.

Investigators say that's when the homeowners son, 17-year-old Eric Keim III got involved in the fight, and ended up stabbing Kalich.

Kalich was found lying in the roadway about 400-feet from Keim's home.

The motive of the stabbing is still a mystery.

"At some point earlier in the evening they were all at Delany's Bar, and they were consuming alcohol," Trooper Steve Limani says. "There were no problems at the bar, but somehow he divulged the address at at two a.m. in the morning, the victim ends up outside the home where the 17 year old lives with his father."

Eric Keim III was charged as an adult, and his bail has been set at 25-thousand dollars.

Kalich was stabbed in the chest, and torso.
