At Least 8 Treated After CO Leak In Baldwin Apartment Complex

BALDWIN (KDKA) – At least eight people, including two children, are ill due to high readings of carbon monoxide at an apartment complex in Baldwin.

According to emergency dispatchers, the apartment complex is on Wolf Drive.

Crews measured the carbon monoxide at over 600 parts-per-million, which is considered to be extremely dangerous.

The victims were all taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A total of 15 apartments were affected and the Red Cross is assisting up to 30 people.

The source of the leak was a hot water boiler in the basement of the building.

Residents will be out of their homes for about 24 hours as crews replace the boiler. However, state officials will have to approve the boiler before residents will be allowed back inside.
