Mayor Peduto Becomes "Grizzy Adams" In "Undercover Boss" Episode

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto was featured on Sunday's episode of "Undercover Boss."

He traded his clean-shaven look and suits for a full beard and orange jumpsuit on the show.

The mayor says he had to go undercover to see how the city worked and how he could make it better.

Sunday night, he watched his debut on national TV and then headed to Cappy's in Shadyside.
In the show, Peduto spent time working to haul trash in Wilkinsburg, cut down trees in Frick Park, making home repairs for the housing authority and tagging along with a self-sufficiency coordinator.

Peduto went undercover with a long gray wig, beard and camouflage clothes that made him seem more like a cast member from the show "Duck Dynasty." During the show, one city employee gave him the nickname "Grizzly Adams," causing a flurry of tweets using the hashtag #GrizzlyAdams.

In interviews prior to the show airing, Peduto told KDKA he wanted to show the rebirth of Pittsburgh by appearing on the show.

"What I tied into everything was the rebirth of Pittsburgh. I just kept showing people ... this isn't the city you think it is," said Peduto. "As we're talking about how people's lives change, I'm talking about how cities change. It sort of all came together really well."
