Harmer Residents On Alert After String Of Car Break-Ins

HARMAR (KDKA) – People in a local neighborhood are on alert after a rash of burglaries.

Some vehicles in Harmar were broken into and in one case, three guns were stolen.

I never thought that would happen on my street. It's a real nice neighborhood. The neighbors are wonderful. There's always people out so I didn't think that would happen," one man said.

There have been several car break-ins on a large scale reported around the area lately.

"A DVD drive was missing out of the back of my car," a victim said.

Several people in Chapel Hill were victimized this time.

"Broke into his truck, my van, took the GPS," Al Savko said. "These guys are crooks. They're crooks."

Savko's neighbor had something in their car you don't want in the hands of a desperate criminal. One vehicle had three guns taken from inside.

"These guys sleeping at night. Dad were heard a noise he has a gun now, we're scared. I got to deal with that," Savko said.

So, if you'll be home for Christmas in his neighborhood, Savko has a holiday message.

"Lock everything up, lock everything up."
