Pro Football Writers Awards Handed Out To Steelers' Bryant, Heyward

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Receiver Martavis Bryant thanked the organization, his coaches and players - specifically Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown - as he won the "Joe Greene Great Performance Award" given to the Steelers' top rookie.

"He showed me how to come in, and work hard and that good things will come," Bryant said of Antonio Brown.

The former Clemson star added Roethlisberger watched film with him and worked on his routes.

Bryant said he appreciated how much the team believed in him as he currently has 25 receptions for 528 yards and 7 touchdowns in just 9 games this year.

Bryant didn't get on the field early, but he didn't let it get him down.

"I'm always going through things and overcoming it. So I figured it was just another thing I had to overcome, so I just stayed focused and continued to work. Once I got my chance, I made sure I didn't give it back," he said.

Steelers defensive end Cam Heyward received the Pro Football Writers "The Chief Award" for cooperating with the media. Heyward said sometimes you have to swallow your pride and know you're at fault and answer the tough questions.

Heyward thanked all, adding, "I don't want to be recognized just for what I say, but what I do."
