The medical examiner’s office identifies the victim as 49-year-old Kimberly Moran.

She was walking her dogs outside her home near the intersection of Rockledge and Lakeside drives around 8 a.m.

That’s when a car hit a patch of ice and hit her.

Officials say she had two dogs with her and one was injured in the crash, the other ran away into nearby woods.

Neighbors of Kim Moran say finding her Bernese Mountain Dog is all they can do to make a terrible tragedy just a little bit easier.

“We just need any help we can to try and find this dog,” said Meg Forsyth. “This is what Kim would want. We’re gonna do it. We’re gonna find her.”

One of Moran’s dogs was pinned underneath the car after the accident. He was taken to the veterinarian and is expected to survive. The other dog is a female who goes by the name Illini — she ran off after the accident.

Larry’s Laundromutt, where Moran was a groomer, shut down for the day to look for the dog. Neighbors canvassed the area as well.

“She absolutely lived for these dogs. They were her life,” said Donna Kipp.

They say Moran and her husband didn’t have children and that these dogs filled that role.

“These were her children and she was just a dear dear person,” said Forsyth. “She was gracious and she never said anything bad about anybody.”

Anyone who sees the dog is being asked to call Sewickley Heights Police. She is shy and ha a red leash.
