Snow To Taper Off By Afternoon, More On The Way
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –The first real blast of winter weather we've seen this season arrived early Tuesday morning.
Snow began falling in the Pittsburgh area around 3 a.m. KDKA's Jon Burnett expects most of the area to see 1-3 inches of snow, with a total of 3-6 inches in the mountains and ridges.
Snow showers should taper off this afternoon. However, another clipper system is expected on Wednesday, which will provide another coating to an inch.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for much of the viewing area.
The advisory is in effect for the following counties in Pennsylvania until 1 p.m. Tuesday:
Allegheny, Beaver, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland.
The advisory is also in effect for the following counties in West Virginia:
Brooke, Hancock, Marshall, Monongalia, Ohio and Preston.
Temperatures are expected to continue to fall throughout the week as well with highs in the mid-teens by Wednesday.
