Ike Taylor On If He'll Be Back Next Year: 'I Honestly Don't Think So'

PITTSBUGH (93-7 The FAN) - Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor talked with Joe Starkey of Starkey and Mueller about his future with the Steelers, Keith Butler replacing Dick LeBeau and whether or not he thinks Troy Polamalu will be back next year.

Taylor talked about LeBeau leaving the Steelers calling it "a sad day for everybody," adding that he "walked on water without being on water."

When it comes to LeBeau's replacement in linebackers coach Keith Butler, LeBeau had nothing but good things to say about the new defensive coordinator.

"We knew it was a long time coming," Taylor said.  "Coach Butler is like a big brother to a lot of the guys, like we all come up together. There is only one Coach LeBeau so ain't nobody going to be Coach LeBeau. I ain't even trying to compare nobody to Coach LeBeau...As far as like respect level, he's like one of the disciples under Coach LeBeau."

Taylor also talked about his own future with the Steelers and was asked if the team had told him yet whether or not they wanted him back.

"They haven't told me, but I honestly don't think so," Taylor said.  "That doesn't mean that Ike couldn't see himself continuing his career with another team.  "My cleats are always ready to put on.  I've been fortunate enough with Pittsburgh.  Just because Pittsburgh may not feel like I can do it doesn't feel like somebody else might think I can do it."

Another staple in the Steelers secondary alongside Taylor has been Troy Polamalu, and Ike shared his thoughts on whether or not 43 would be interested in playing another year.

"Man, I don't know," Ike said.  "TP still want to play, it's in his blood like it's in all our blood.  It's in me, (Brett) Keisel, Troy (Polamalu) and Debo's (James Harrison) blood to play football...as much as we want to say we're done, we really ain't done."  Taylor added he hopes Troy comes back to play another year.
