Suspect In Alleged Drug Deal Takes Police On Wild Chase

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An alleged drug deal happened right in front of police.

It was a full blown police chase around 1 p.m.

The suspect wasn't giving up without a battle.

Police officers were after one man who was later taken into custody on the 40th Street Bridge.

All over the bridge police officers were staring down below, looking for a cell phone and drugs.

Sources confirm police believe the man made a drug buy and observed by police, began driving erratically. That's when the chase began.

Officers converged on the suspect, who lost control of his car and slammed it into the curb along the bridge.

Sources indicate the suspect jumped out of the car, ran across the street and threw a cell phone and drugs over the side of the bridge.

They also believe the suspect may have chewed and swallowed a number of pills just as police arrived.

Officers on foot and in squad cars spent a great deal of time looking below the bridge for either a cell phone or drugs.

At this time, it doesn't appear as if they are able to confirm they found either.
