2 Suspects In Custody After Upper St. Clair Home Invasion, Manhunt

BALDWIN (KDKA) -- Police took two suspects into custody in connection with an overnight home invasion in Upper St. Clair that led to a chase and manhunt through two local neighborhoods.

It all started with a break-in at a home on Walther Lane in Upper Saint Clair.

Police say Kevin Caldwell, and John Trowery were arrested a short time later in Baldwin and are connected to that case.

Police from multiple agencies and K-9s closed in on the two suspects early Thursday morning during a search through Baldwin and the Hays neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

It all came to close on Baldwin Road and Glass Run Road around 6 a.m. when the two men were arrested.

One suspect moaned in pain as he was put into an ambulance shortly after his arrest. He was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

Early reports indicate that police found several loaded guns in an SUV that the suspects possibly abandoned near the Glenwood Bridge during a pursuit.

Allegheny County Police were also on scene. They're now assisting in the investigation, looking into the Upper St. Clair home invasion and whether the men arrest may have been involved.

The police chief in Upper St. Clair says just before 4 a.m., two men broke in through the back door of the home on Walther Lane.

The chief says the homeowner confronted them and the suspects took off, fleeing in an SUV. It wasn't long after that Baldwin Police spotted a similar vehicle.

Police later in the morning returned to the home and county police were expected to join them. Meanwhile, the two suspects were being interviewed by detectives at Allegheny County headquarters.

KDKA's Heather Abraham spoke to a neighbor who says there was a home invasion just a few months ago on Walther Lane, a small street with only four houses.

"I heard about one today, but there was one during the summer," the neighbor said. "It was so quiet and peaceful, and I didn't expect anything like this to happen."

This incident remains under investigation by Allegheny County Police and Upper Saint Clair Police.
