Pirates Reach Agreement With Multiple Arbitration Eligible Players

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pirates have until midnight Friday night to come to terms with their 12 arbitration eligible players before the case will go before an arbiter.

Stay tuned to here throughout the day as we update you on which players the Pirates have come to terms with.

The following is the list of 12 players who are arbitration eligible for the Pirates.

1. Pedro Alvarez - Made $4.25 million last year.  Hit just .231 last year with only 18 home runs and 56 RBI.  Has not reached an agreement with the team yet.

2. Neil Walker - Made $5.75 million last year.  Played in 137 games hitting .271 with 23 home runs and 76 RBI.  Has not reached an agreement with the team yet.

3. Josh Harrison - Made $513,000 last year in his breakout season.  Hit .315 with 13 home runs and 52 RBI while making the All-Star team.  Has reached an agreement with the team for $2.8 million.

4. Antonio Bastardo - Made $2 million last year with the Phillies.  Appeared in 67 games last year throwing 64 innings with an ERA of 3.94 while striking out 81.  Has reached an agreement with the team for $3.1 million

5. Mark Melancon - Made $2.595 million last year.  Recorded 33 saves while only blowing 4.  Has reached an agreement with the team for $5.4 million.

6. Francisco Cervelli - Made $700,000 last year with the Yankees.  Acquired by the Pirates from the Yankees in exchange for reliever Justin Wilson.  Has reached an agreement with the team for $987,500.

7. Travis Snider - Made $1.2 million last year.  Hit .264 with 13 home runs and 38 RBI while playing a key role coming off the teams bench.  Avoided arbitration, terms not disclosed.

8. Tony Watson - Made $518,500 last year.  Appeared in 78 games with a 1.63 ERA and 81 strikeouts while making the All-Star team.  Has reached an agreement with the team for $1.75 million.

9. Jared Hughes - Made $515,000 last year.  Spent time in both the majors and AAA.  Appeared in 63 major league games last year and had a 1.96 ERA.  Has reached an agreement with the team for $1.075 million.

10. Chris Stewart - Made $1 million last year backing up Russell Martin.  Hit .294 with 0 home runs and 10 RBI while appearing in 49 games.  Has reached an agreement with the team for $1.225 million.

11. Vance Worley - Made $527,5000 last year.  Had a bounce back year with the Pirates starting 17 games going 8-4 with a 2.85 ERA.  Has not reached an agreement with the team yet.

12. Sean Rodriguez - Made $1.475 million last year.  Acquired by the Pirates from the Tampa Bay Rays for minor league pitcher Buddy Borden.  Avoided arbitration, terms not disclosed.
