Waynesburg Man Charged In Alleged "Shaken Baby" Case

WAYNESBURG (KDKA) -- A Waynesburg man is facing assault and child abuse charges after a baby was admitted to the hospital with injuries that state police say are "consistent with 'shaken baby'" syndrome.

State police say they have charged 19-year-old Jeffery Kennedy with a felony count of aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of simple assault and endangering the welfare of children.

According to police, the baby boy - born in November - is being treated at Ruby Memorial Hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for subdural hematomas and other injuries.

It happened at a home on North 88 Road in Jefferson Township, Greene County.

Kennedy was arraigned.

He is now being held in the Greene County Jail on $75,000 cash bond.
