Sidney Crosby And Evgeni Malkin To Miss All-Star Game

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - According to the Pittsburgh Penguins, captain Sidney Crosby will miss the 2015 All-Star game due to a lower-body injury. The announcement came from team General Manager Jim Rutherford.

According to the statement released by the Pens, Crosby has been playing with the injury and will need about a week to heal.

Because he's missing the All-Star game, Crosby will not be permitted to play in the Penguins first game back from break on Tuesday, January 27th against the Winnipeg Jets.

Center Evgeni Malkin will also miss the All-Star Game following an undisclosed injury he suffered against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Malkin sat out the team's 3-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night.

It is believed that Malkin may miss a portion of time following the All-Star break as well as he heals.

With Crosby and Malkin both backing out of the game, that leaves goalie Marc-Andre Fleury as the team's lone All-Star representative.

In other injury news, defenseman Kris Letang has undergone concussion testing following the dirty hit he took from Flyers forward Zac Rinaldo on Tuesday night.
