World Of Wheels Car Show Returns To Convention Center

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Hit movies like "Fast and Furious" series are like great cars. If it works, don't change the formula.

Five high-octane cruisers from the movie series are among some 450 eye-popping vehicles on display, as the "World of Wheels" returns to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center this weekend.

Show promoter Larry Way calls it "rolling automotive art." He says most of the entries are from a hundred mile radius, like a pair of vintage cars restored by students at Steel Valley School.

"Whether they restore a car, whether they modify it, could be a hotrod, could be a restored '60s Camaro or Mustang, could be a motorcycle or truck, and they spend all this time and money, and it's their pride and joy," said Way.

The show also includes two Discovery Channel stars who go by the names Farm Truck and AZN. They race their vehicles on a show called "Street Outlaws."

"It's blue collar guys who work hard during the day to build their cars, and they street race them during the night," AZN says.

"We travel the country looking for other people that want to race us, and we'll challenge them," Farm Truck adds. "A lot of people step up to the game."

Other vehicles at World of Wheels range from monster trucks to something the Beach Boys would drive. Owners are united by a love of cars.

Way says he has 11 of his own.

"The hobby turned into a job. I'm living a dream. I'm very, very fortunate," he said.
