Classes Resume Thursday At Propel Braddock Hills H.S.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Classes will resume Thursday at Propel Braddock Hills High School; two days after police say two students brought two guns in the school.

The superintendent also says metal detectors will be introduced over the next few weeks to the Braddock Hills campus.

Parents asked for metal detectors after the incident on Monday.

One 16-year-old student and one 18-year-old student are each facing charges.

The superintendent says there are no plans to place metal detectors in any other Propel building.

A statement from the superintendent, Dr. Tina Chekan, reads in part:
"At Propel, we strive for a culture of safety and dignity each and every day. Over the next few weeks we will introduce metal detectors to the Braddock Hills High School campus to support additional systems already in place. This decision is the result of collaboration and conversation between Propel's Board, local law enforcement and the Braddock Hills High School family. This process will be evaluated at the end of the academic year. There are currently no plans to place metal detectors in any other Propel buildings."
